Read and come and discuss “Community Engagement Matters (Now More Than Ever)” by Melody Barnes & Paul Schmitz from the Stanford Social Innovation Review (pdf of article below). This article argues that social-impact leaders should pursue data-driven and evidence-based practices “in ways that engage community members directly in the work of social change” and provides specific advice about how to do so. The book club will include conversation about applying these ideas in our community.
