Role of the Treasurer
The financial health of a nonprofit organization relies on the skillful execution of the Board Treasurer role. This two-hour online live interactive class will provide an overview of the Treasurer's explicit and implicit role and responsibilities on a nonprofit organization's Board of Directors. It takes an expansive view of the Treasurer's role to show how the Treasurer's work goes beyond monitoring the financial reporting. Participants will be encouraged to share their challenges and successes through facilitated discussion. In addition, participants will receive a sample editable position description for your Board Treasurer. Participants should bring a copy of your Treasurer’s position description, if available.
Who should attend: The class is most appropriate for current and in-coming Board Treasurers that are new to volunteering with a nonprofit Board of Directors. This class is suitable for organizations with or without professional staff. Participants should have basic knowledge of nonprofit finance. A maximum of two people per organization may register for this class.
